What Is Ocaliva?
Ocaliva is a prescription medication designed to treat a rare, chronic liver disorder known as primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), which destroys bile ducts over time, causing bile to pool in the liver and preventing the body from properly digesting nutrients. Ocaliva gets rid of some of the toxic bile built up in the liver and reduces the production of bile acid.
Dangers of Improper Dosages of Ocaliva
As with many prescription medications, too much can be a bad thing. Many patients with PBC are receiving doses of Ocaliva that are dangerously high and/or receiving doses more frequently than they should, which can cause permanent damage. Even when patients and doctors follow recommended practices for dosage and frequency, patients taking Ocaliva may still experience dangerous complications. This can cause serious liver injury and a slew of other serious ailments.
You may be experiencing improper dosage or negative effects from the medication itself if you have any of the following symptoms:
- Bloating, abdominal swelling
- Blood in your stool
- Diarrhea
- Fatigue, abnormal tiredness
- Jaundice
- Nausea
- New or worse itching of the skin
- Reduced appetite
- Unexplainable weight loss
- Vomiting
- Yellow eyes

Everyone there was very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. My car was totaled, and I was a little intimidated talking with a couple of other lawyers in Greenville. But with Christian and Christian, not only did they answer my questions, but they did so in a way that made what could have been a hectic situation, easy. Overall, an excellent experience with high quality lawyers who truly go above and beyond and really try to get you the results or answers you need.
