Leading Causes of Industrial FiresAccording to a March 2018 report published by the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), approximately 37,910 fires occurred in industrial and/or manufacturing facilities in the United States between 2011 and 2015, to the tune of more than $1 billion in property damage.

According to the report, the two leading causes of industrial fires included problems with electrical distribution and lighting equipment (accounting for 24% of the total) and issues with heating equipment (16% of the total). The presence of hot embers and ashes also contributed to or started approximately %15 of industrial fires during the recorded years.
